Minnie started playing the violin at the age of six in her hometown of Vancouver. She has won various awards at the Kiwanis Music Festival, second place at the National Music Festival and the Judge’s Discretionary Award at the Sorantin International Competition.
Minnie performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in 1997 and again in 2001. She has also toured with the Oberlin Conservatory Orchestra in 2006 and the Yale Philharmonic Orchestra in 2008 to China and Korea.
In 2006, she got her bachelor of music degree at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and a master of music degree at the Yale School of Music in 2008, both on full scholarships. After graduating, she joined the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra in the fall of 2008.
