Bermudian-Canadian trumpeter Matthew Ross is very excited to play with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra for their 2019-2020 season.
Matthew completed his Master’s degree at the Shepherd School of Music, where he studied with Charles Geyer and Barbara Butler. He received his B.Mus in trumpet performance at the University of Toronto and his Artist Diploma at the Glenn Gould School, studying with Anita McAlister and Andrew McCandless.
Before moving to Calgary, Matthew was the Trumpet Teaching Artist at the Sistema New Brunswick Saint John Centre.
Matthew has performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Symphony New Brunswick, Hannaford Street Silver Band, Weston Silver Band, and Soundstreams.
When he is not playing music, Matthew is very passionate about burritos and brunch; he has had a burrito in every Province except Newfoundland and he loves making quiche.
