Robyn Neidhold

Born and raised in Reno, NV, cellist Robyn Neidhold began musical studies at the age of five. Robyn’s orchestral career began at the age of 13 in the Reno Philharmonic, where she earned her first orchestral contract. Most recently, Robyn served as Acting Principal Cellist of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, after performing as Assistant Principal Cellist with the WSO. Robyn has also held positions with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic and regularly performed as a substitute with the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Robyn’s performance career includes prizes in competitions, most recently being the American Opera Society of Chicago Competition and the Thaviu String Competition. In addition to performing, Robyn is a Suzuki-trained teacher, dedicated to fostering a love of music in students of all ages and abilities. She holds degrees from the Northwestern Bienen School of Music, where she studied with Hans Jørgen Jensen, and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she studied with Eric Kim. Other influential teachers include Zuill Bailey, Melissa Kraut, Dmitri Atapine, and Emily Uhlman, along with the support of her family and friends. Joining the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra is made especially meaningful as Robyn’s grandmother, Faye Huggins, was a violist with the CPO for thirty years.
