As a conductor of “great artistic maturity, clarity and precision” (BG-Opera Magazine), Daniel Cohen recently made an acclaimed debut with the Canadian Opera Company with Christopher Alden’s production of La clemenza di Tito.
A former Los Angeles Philharmonic Gustavo Dudamel Fellow, Daniel Cohen’s orchestral engagements this season include his debuts with the Milwaukee Symphony and Tampere Philharmonic orchestras and Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne.
Daniel has been appointed Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper Berlin for the 2015/2016 season, where he will conduct revivals of Don Giovanni and Lucia di Lammermoor. 2013/2014 saw Daniel conduct a revival of Rigoletto at New Israeli Opera. In summer 2015, he returns to the Festival to conduct Le nozze di Figaro, and will conduct La Cenerentola on the main stage in 2016.
Daniel is Music Director of the Jersey Chamber Orchestra where he has worked with artists such as Nicola Benedetti, Sophie Bevan, Alison Balsom, and more. He is also Artistic Director of the Gropius Ensemble, which specializes in a synthesis of music and theatre, collaborating with actor Itay Tiran.
