What you need to know about this programme:

  • International guitarist Petrit Çeku is known for his exquisite sensibility and expressiveness.
  • JoAnn Falletta is the first female conductor to lead a major North American orchestra and has been acclaimed as “one of the finest of her generation” by The New York Times
  • Falletta is currently featured in a Macy’s ad campaign showcasing six remarkable women in leadership roles.
  • Every section of the orchestra gets a chance to shine in Ginastera’s Variaciones concertantes, which has an incredible double bass solo. Here’s a preview from Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s Sam Loeck.
