Dr. Marcin Swoboda has enjoyed a career as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player in North and South America as well as Europe. After a brief stint as Principal viola of the Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo, he decided to pursue his Doctorate in Performance Studies at McGill University, which he completed in 2013. Recent highlights in Marcin’s career include a European tour with the Ensemble Intercontemporain of Paris, under the direction of Pierre Boulez, and a recording of the first Fauré piano quartet which he completed with his family’s chamber group, The Swoboda Piano Quartet. Marcin is currently the Assistant Principal violist of the Calgary Philharmonic. In his spare time he enjoys ice-climbing, disc golf and hoppy beer.
