Our musicians are enjoying a break during the summer, but they always have things on the go! if you’re travelling to the United States and heading to Utah or New Jersey in August, here’s where you can catch our Assistant Principal Bassoon player Michael Hope, and one of our Assistant Principal Horn players, William Hopson:

“The White Cliffs of Dover:” August 17, 8pm

Ocean City Pops Orchestra (Ocean City, New Jersey)

Michael Hope returns to the beautiful Music Pier on the boardwalk at Ocean City, New Jersey to sing his critically-acclaimed Tribute to Winston Churchill in a brand new fully-orchestrated version. Bill Scheible conducts the Ocean City Pops in a heartfelt program that will include “I’ll Be Seeing You”, “We’ll Meet Again” “Land of Hope and Glory” and of course, “The White Cliffs of Dover”!

North American Alphorn Retreat: August 7-10

Solitude Mountain Resort, Utah

This will be William Hopson’s seventh year teaching at the North American Alphorn Retreat. He will be joined by renowned alporn instructor Fritz Frautschi. Other instructors include Brian Priebe, Laura Nelson and Tony Brazelton.

Love blues music? From July 31 to August 3 at Shaw Millennium Park, experience the talents of world class blues artists, including Joe Louis Walker.

 Morningside Music Bridge (ends August 1) 

Held at the Leacock Theatre at Mount Royal University, this festival features a mix of concerts performed by some of the best classical musicians from China, Poland, Germany and across North America.
