Viva! Mexico with Johannes Moser

Johannes Moser turns up the heat with his electric cello on Magnetar, alongside a program of popular works showcasing Mexico’s finest composers. Infused with spicy flavours, the evening’s irresistible rhythms create a festive mood with splashes of syncopated percussive flourishes including congos, bongos and tom-toms on the exhilarating La Noche de los Mayas.

Classical Guitar Frontiers with Yamandu Costa

Brazilian guitar legend Yamandu Costa performs his sparkling new work Concerto de Fronteira. The beautiful choral showpiece Maracatu de Chico Rei is a compelling classical masterpiece for which Brazil is renowned.

Ravel’s pulsating, exotic Boléro plus two snappy Latin American-inspired works by Hollywood legends Gershwin and Bernstein, ensure the evening’s hot Latin pizzazz!

Buenos Aires Tango with Sarah Chang

Onward to Argentina, with a spotlight shining on the sultry and evocative capital city Buenos Aires and the sexy, sensual nuevo tango style that Astor Piazzolla pioneered. His masterwork, Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, sizzles under the spell of violinist Sarah Chang.  The intertwined works of Argentina’s composing tradition, past and present −from Golijov’s Piazzolla tribute,  to Estancia composed by Piazzolla’s first composition teacher  − are also explored.
