With the generous support of our sponsors, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra brings small ensembles to rural communities north and south of Calgary.  Each May and June, string quartets travel to schools, nursing homes, and community venues so that Albertans of all ages can experience world-class music. Activities include:

  • Instrument Discovery Zoos – Children can visit different stations around a school or community gym, each featuring a different musician and instrument. The CPO will provide mini-instruments that even the smallest child can play.
  • A Walk Down Memory Lane – concerts in retirement or nursing homes will include favorite tunes that will inspire memories and engage audience members.
  • School Visits – Small ensembles perform interactive recitals at elementary, junior, and senior high schools in rural Alberta.
